We hear that Pete Slaughter cut Jim Owens at Springerville a few days since. The story is that Owens went to Slaughter's residence to invite him to a dance. When Owens stepped inside the house, Slaughter jumped for his Windchester. Owens, with the assistance of Slaughter's wife, succeeded in taking the gun from him, when Owens turned to leave the house, but before he got out Slaughter sprang for him and cut him pretty severely in one of his shoulders.
