In the matter of the Inquisition upon the body of Candido Vigil deceased

Statement by Dr. Rudd, next.

I was called between 7 and 8 o'clock to view the dead body of a Mexican at Saffell's Saloon, as an examining Physician.  On examination of the body, I find eight gun shot wounds; One first, below the left eye; One in the left cheek; One in the left temple, 1/2 inch above the horizontal line of the left eye; One in the left ear; Three on the left side of the neck below the left jaw in a perpendicular line, and one in the right cheek.  They indicated to me, shot from a shotgun, buckshot.   From the best Judgement, that I have, deceased came to his death from the shot wounds, above mentioned.  Three of the shot, anyway, passed into the brain which would cause immediate death.  I am a regularly practicing, licensed Physician and was called to examine the wounds by a summons from the Acting Coroner.

Signed, Wm.M.Rudd.
